There are unknown acting scholarships for college available to those who want to gain knowledge and experience in acting.There are people who are just born talented. This may be musical, artistic or in acting. No matter how gifted you may think you are at acting; you can benefit from actors training. A college education can not only benefit you, but also lead you to your big break.

The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts will award unknown scholarships in acting to high school seniors. They give these college acting scholarships to students who perform in front of a panel of judges. There will be a 3 minute audition. You will have to travel to Denison, Iowa for this process. There will be some props available to assist you. This acting scholarship is $3000. The deadline for applications is 4/30/2011.

The Irene Ryan Foundation has been giving out student acting scholarships since 1972. These unknown scholarships were born because of Irene Ryan who played granny in the Beverly Hillbillies. They give out 19 regional scholarship awards and 2 fellowships each year. 16 of these are $500. 2 are for $2500. These are paid directly to the school. They also accept nominations from a college for one student. This acting scholarship is for $2500.

The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts’ School of Film and Television usually awards more than $800,000 in acting college scholarships every school year. These acting scholarships are given to students on a competitive basis. They also look at things like financial needs and a gift for acting. There are a couple different unknown scholarships from the NYCDA. One is the Mary Doyle Memorial Scholarship. This is based on financial need. You will also have to show talent at the audition. This one can award you a unknown scholarship from $500 to $10,000 every year. To apply you must have a GPA of 3.0. You must also fill out a FAFSA for the year you are applying. The deadline on these varies depending on the individual.

The Screen Actors Guild John L. Dales Scholarship Fund-Standard Scholarships is another program. This one has a stricter criteria to get a acting scholarship. One, your parent or you have to be a member of the Screen Actors Guild. The member applying must have made $30,000 in the Guild’s jurisdiction. They have to summit federal tax returns to prove this and they have to write an essay as well. In addition, they need to get all the documents from any high school or college they attended and also have two letters of recommendations. The deadline for all of this is 3/15/2011. The maximum acting scholarship is for $4000.

These are just a few of the little known acting scholarships that are available for the people who believe they have what it takes to be an actor and want to get some education under their belt.
